Organization’s Objective

Citizen Action of Wisconsin Education Fund, founded in 1983, is a non-partisan, statewide organization bringing together tens of thousands of individuals across the state and 117 diverse coalition partners with a shared vision of social, racial, economic, environmental and health justice for all.

Over one million Wisconsin citizens lacked health insurance at some point during the last two years – and currently 1.2 million of our citizens have no coverage for prescription drugs. The conservative majority in the state Assembly believes that the avenue for change are tax preferred savings accounts which require the purchase of extremely high-deductible health insurance policies.
We are supporting passage the Healthy Wisconsin plan passed by the State Senate which will for the first time guarantee that all Wisconsinites will get the same quality health care that our state legislators have had for years. HealthyWisconsin will guarantee a choice of high quality public and private health plans in every region of the state. In addition, we will support specific incremental reforms on a case by case basis, including supporting Governor Doyle’s current proposal to expand BadgerCare to cover all children.
