Organization’s Objective

Democrats and our campaigns need precinct maps in digital form yet there is no single reliable source for precinct geography in any format. Instead they are nearly always obtainable in irregular formats (e.g. paper, pdf) on a county by county basis. The problem is ubiquitous. The total wasted time and lost opportunities are enormous and by definition this bars precinct geography from being used at the nationwide analytical or data services level. The solution of gathering 3,300 County maps and digitizing them by brute force is both prohibitively expensive and non-responsive to the constantly changing boundaries. No legislative or administrative remedies are in sight. Therefor the basic unit of electoral analysis and campaign planning is dependent on archaic methods when what we need are updated nationwide precincts that are shared by the campaigns, the infrastructure organizations (DNC, NCEC, DCCC, DSCC, and the developer community that, in turn, serves them.
