Organization’s Objective

AMP is an member guided intermediary that is addressing the lack of culturally relevant networking, technical, and professional development resources for young leaders and young grassroots music and arts organizations.

This void along with systemic problems like adultism, gentrification, and aggressive youth marketing, prohibit the development and sustainability of independent youth cultural opportunities.

AMP organizations believe these opportunities are paramount for young people to build identities and communities that encourage civic participation. Research has shown that young people are twice as likely to be involved in cultural organizations than they are political or social cause organizations. Because of this and music's innate power to bring people together, AMP organizations act as the beginning of a pipeline of community engagement for young people by using music as a vehicle development, community building and dialogue. More info about the connections between music and youth development and civic participation can be found in AMP's research materials online.
* Organizations with 501(c)3 legal status engage exclusively in non-partisan education and civic engagement activities.
